If you become disabled while covered under the
Active Laborers Plan, you may be eligible for Disability Hours Credit.
Disability Hours Credit protects you and your family from the loss of
health and welfare coverage in the event you are unable to work. The Plan defines “disabled” as being unable to
perform any and every duty in connection with your occupation.
To be eligible, you must have at least 440 hours in your hour bank at the
onset of your disability.
If you are eligible, the health and welfare plan grants Disability Hours
Credit of 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, up to 110 hours per month. A maximum of 660 hours credit is allowed in any
consecutive 12-month period. (For the actual text governing Disability Hours Credit, refer to Article II., Section 2.a.(3) of
the printed Active Laborers Plan booklet.)
To apply for Disability Hours Credit: request a
form here, or contact the
Fund Office or visit your
Local Union office.
